Sarah and Wisdom had no where to stay until they arrived at the Matero CRC three weeks ago. Their mother does not have a job and her husband has left her. She moves from neighbor's house to neighbor's house depending on the kindness of strangers. Luckily, Family Legacy Missions Zambia was able to step in and house her two children, Sarah (13 years) and Wisdom (9 years) while a place is located for the family to stay long term. Our discipleship team is looking for a 2-roomed house in Kanyama that we can prepay rent for 6 months. This would allow time for their mother to attend our economic empowerment training and microloan program. She then could start a small business with a microloan (usually $100 US) to keep the family together.
Josh Rives and I had the chance to visit Sarah and Wisdom this past Saturday, November 22, 2008. We played soccer with them and took lots of pictures. They love having their pictures taken! We also shared a traditional Zambian meal with them for lunch consisting of Nshima (a corn based product that can be eaten with your hands), kapenta (small fish like sardines), and beans! While we were there we also met a family of four children who have already been helped by the economic empowerment program. The four children play at the CRC during the day!
