Kaunda Square CRC - Rescuing Rose November 14, 2008

New Shoes for Rose

This past Friday, November 14, 2008, the police sought help from Family Legacy Missions Zambia's Community Resource Center (CRC) situated in Kaunda Square a compound in Lusaka. A two year old little girl had been abandoned and needed a place to stay for awhile until social welfare could find an orphanage with an opening or another place for her to stay. The girl's mother has run away and the father drives busses all day and then drinks all night. He had been leaving the girl with neighbors during the day and they finally grew concerned for her and brought her to the police. Our CRC was able to step in and take care of her during this stressful period in her young life. Josh Rives and I heard of the situation from the discipleship team and brought food and new clothes and most likely her first pair of shoes. When we set her down in her new shoes, she didn't quite know how to walk. We were able to coax her to walk to us with a tootsie roll! Rose is now staying at the CRC with Alice Phiri, the Kaunda Square CRC Supervisor, until a suitable home can be found for her. Praise Jesus that we were there to help little Rose!
